The acronym stands for United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). This is a three step exam to obtain a common license to practice in the US. The candidates – officially enrolled in or a graduate of a medical school outside the US and Canada listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, meeting CFMG eligibility requirements – can take the step 1 and step 2 of the USMLE exam. To attempt the step 3 of this exam, you must be an MD or an equivalent degree holder from a medical school outside the US and Canada as per the directives of the World Directory of Medical Schools, meeting ECFMG eligibility requirements.
